Support
My posts have been slim to none because I have been adjusting myself to all of the life changes I am going through. I am so very grateful to have a job! I love my class so much and I am very happy to say that I have a full time para! She has helped me so much throughout this entire process. We are both learning since I am a first year teacher and she just joined the public education system. I am blessed because she has been supportive, open-minded, and loves to learn! She is a great help in my behavior challenged classroom. She works with my students everyday and does not question when she should step in. She supports them and I think they are learning more because she is there. The point of this post, is that teachers should utilize their paras and provide them with direction so they can help in your classroom. They are there to help and they will help! :) Paras need the same support and direction teachers get. Where teachers have lesson plans to guide them....the paras need teachers to guide them. This teamwork has been wonderful and I am learning how to collaborate more and more every step of the way! Thank you Mrs.Gilbert!

My Classroom
My classroom has a wonderful reading loft and a SmartBoard at the front of the room. Beside the loft I have created a Word Wall that we will build upon throughout the remainder of the year. I have several wonderful books for the students to read and explore. I have four sets of group materials at the student desks. They include pencils, scissors, glue sticks, and crayons. (I may have to change the set up if they cannot handle it.)
This is the other side of my classroom. I have a white board with the student's daily schedule and standards on it. The tree to the right will eventually be a job board so that all of the students will have some type of responsibility.
This is a panoramic view of my classroom from the cluster opening. From left to right: Social Studies board, Birthday wall, Standards and Schedule Board, Job Board, My Desk and Personal Materials, Science Board, Math Board, Math Materials (under Obama and MLK Jr.), Emergency Exit Door, Writing Wall, Word Wall & Books, Reading Loft, and Group Carpet.
I have a lot of wonderful materials in my classroom! Let's hope I am able to use them all successfully!
